Gaggia Anima: Lubricate the Brew Unit

Learn how to maintain and lubricate the brew unit in the Gaggia Anima, as well as what to do when the brew unit is loud or if you are experiencing wet or soupy pucks.

Lubricate the Brew Unit

The brew unit brews, as the name suggests, but, just as importantly, it's also responsible for tamping ground coffee into a consistent puck. Inside the unit are two tracks which should be lubricated every six months or so for best results in the cup. Watch the video below to get the lowdown on food-safe lubricant and how to keep the brew unit functioning smoothly.

Note: After performing maintenance on your brew group, it is common for the unit to squeak as new seals break in. It is also common for wet grounds and inconsistent shots to occur for the first 10 shots or so as the machine has to go through a relearning process after service.

Associated Parts:

Failure of normal wear and tear items such as group gaskets, seals, and shower screens are not covered under warranty.  Issues due to scale build-up or lack of maintenance are not covered.
